SCAS Announces New Fellows for the Academic Year 2024-25 (1)

Today, we are delighted to present three of the scholars who will be Fellows-in-residence at the Collegium
during the next academic year (2024-25). Some Fellows will be in residence during the entire academic
year, whereas others will be at the Collegium either during the autumn or the spring semester.

Further names will be announced throughout the spring.and summer.

Seyram Avle, Associate Professor, Department of Communication, University
of Massachusetts, Amherst

During her time at SCAS as a Global Horizons Senior Fellow, Dr. Avle will be
working on a book tentatively titled Future Worlds: Chinese Techno Power and
African Imaginaries

Mark Bassin, Baltic Sea Professor of the History of Ideas, Center for Baltic and
East European Studies, Södertörn University. Director of Research, Institute for
Russian and Eurasian Studies, Uppsala University

During his time as Fellow, Professor Bassin will work on parts of a more compre-

Ümit Kurt, Assistant Professor, School of Humanities, Creative Industries and
Social Sciences, College of Human and Social Futures, University of Newcastle

During his time at SCAS, Dr. Ümit Kurt will work on a book project titled Cogs in
the Wheel: The Dynamics of Participation in the Armenian Genocide
